TALIRI YAONESHA TEKNOLOJIA RAFIKI ZA MAZINGIRA KWENYE MAONYESHO YA WIKI YA MAZINGIRA DODOMA
Brief News: TALIRI showcases eco-friendly technologies at Environment Week exhibition in Dodoma
Members of the public and various stakeholders today, 4 June 2026, visited the Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI) pavilion located at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Center in Dodoma, where the Environment Week exhibitions are ongoing.
At the pavilion, TALIRI showcased and provided education on environmentally friendly technologies aimed at improving livestock production while also conserving the environment. Key topics included the use of grasses and fodder trees that help improve soil fertility, prevent soil erosion, and ensure year-round availability of quality livestock feed.
The public was also encouraged to establish fodder farms as a way to reduce the challenge of feed shortages for livestock, especially during the dry season, as well as to lower production costs in livestock keeping.
In addition, education was provided on the use of clean biogas energy produced from animal waste. This technology was highlighted as a way to reduce reliance on environmentally harmful energy sources such as charcoal and firewood. The remaining slurry from biogas systems can also be used as organic fertilizer to improve crop production and increase income for farmers and livestock keepers.
Speaking at the pavilion, TALIRI expert Mr. Rajabu Hamisi said that fodder and biogas technologies have significant benefits, including reducing environmental degradation, lowering land-use conflicts, and increasing income for farmers and livestock keepers through the production and sale of fodder seeds.
TALIRI continues to invite the public to visit its pavilion to learn more about modern livestock production techniques, improved fodder production, and the use of clean energy for sustainable development.
