Dr. Chang’a is a livestock scientist with over 16 years of working experience in livestock research and development, having published over 37 research works, including 21 peer-reviewed journal articles, one book chapter, and 18 conference papers. His areas of research interest are in animal breeding and poultry nutrition. He has been involved in various international and local projects, including those under the Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA), Lake Victoria Research Initiative (VicRes), Agricultural Sector Development Program (ASDP)-ZARDEF, and Program for Agricultural and Natural Resources Transformation for Improved Livelihoods (PANTIL) under Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania. Dr. Chang’a holds a PhD in poultry nutrition from the University of New England, Australia (2019). His PhD focused on the evaluation of feed quality and supply to the small- to medium-scale poultry sector in Tanzania. He also holds an MSc in Tropical Animal Production and a BSc in Animal Science, both from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania. During his Master degree, he characterized the production performance of Red Maasai sheep. Dr. Chang’a has attended other courses, including a Diploma in International Course on Dairy Husbandry and Milk Processing, a Certificate in Machine Milking both from PTC+ in The Netherlands, and Milk Value Chain in Bishoftu, Debre Zeit, Ethiopia. He has also attended several short courses, including the FAO Visual Learning Centers certificate in African Swine Fever Introductory Course for Resource Limited Settings and a certificate in Animal Breeding, Genome Technologies, Mathematical Modeling, and Data in Agriculture. He has attended feed formulation courses in the Netherlands, Australia, and Tanzania. Dr. Chang’a is currently serving a position of Director for TALIRI Southern Highlands Zone
