Gilbert Timothy Msuta is employed by Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI) as a Research Scientist under the Dairy Research Programme. Mr. Msuta is an animal Scientist with interest in Livestock Genomics. Mr. Msuta is currently working as a Manager for Livestock Technology Transfer section at TALIRI Headquarters whose duties are to provide technical backstopping for technology development and transfer to all research zones, to develop research tools/approaches for identification of research opportunities and monitor their utilization, promote private sector involvement and empowerment in the sector for wider and sustainable livestock technology utilization,  promote sharing and exchange of skills and knowledge in livestock technologies as well as encourage, promote and support investment in livestock research in collaboration of other research stakeholders. He has been involved in implementing the African Dairy Genetic Gain (ADGG) and Enviro-Cow Programs in Tanzania where he worked as a liason personnel between the project partners and stakeholders. Mr. Msuta has diverse experience in working with Tanzanian dairy farmers both smallholder and Medium/Large scale farmers across all dairy hubs. Mr. Msuta has been trained on various data management and analysis software for genetic and genomic evaluations. Mr. Msuta has led a team of TALIRI researchers in implementing the PEARL project titled “Towards Improving Dairy Productivity in Smallholder Systems: Developing Tools and Frameworks for Data Acquisition, Analysis and Decision Support for Smallholder Dairy Producers in East Africa’. Mr. Msuta has also worked as a consultant for the Epidemiology and Control of Peste des Petits Ruminants (Eco-PPR) project which is a regional project implemented in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Mali and Senegal.    Mr. Msuta holds BSc. Animal Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania, Postgraduate Dilpma in Education (PGDE) from University of Dar ES Salaam in Tanzania and MSc. Animal Science (Animal Genomics) from Melbourne University in Australia.
