Gilbert Timothy Msuta

Gilbert Timothy Msuta is employed by Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI) as a Research Scientist under the Dairy Research Programme. Mr. Msuta is an animal Scientist with interest in Livestock Genomics. Mr. Msuta is currently working as acting Manager for Livestock Research and Innovation Section at TALIRI Headquarters whose duties are to identify research areas, develop and coordinate research programmes and projects as well as facilitate partnerships and linkages with collaborators and stakeholders in livestock research. He has been involved in implementing the African Dairy Genetic Gain (ADGG) Program in Tanzania where he worked as a liason personnel between the project partners and stakeholders. Mr. Msuta has diverse experience in working with Tanzanian dairy farmers both smallholder and Medium/Large scale farmers across all dairy hubs. Mr. Msuta has been trained on various data management and analysis software for genetic and genomic evaluations. Mr. Msuta has led a team of TALIRI researchers in implementing the PEARL project titled “Towards Improving Dairy Productivity in Smallholder Systems: Developing Tools and Frameworks for Data Acquisition, Analysis and Decision Support for Smallholder Dairy Producers in East Africa’. Mr. Msuta has also worked as a consultant for the Epidemiology and Control of Peste des Petits Ruminants (Eco-PPR) project which is a regional project implemented in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Mali and Senegal. Mr. Msuta holds BSc. Animal Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania and MSc. Animal Science (Animal Genomics) from Melbourne University in Australia.
