Andrew Chota is a holder of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Masters of Science in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (Vaccine Development specialty) of Sokoine University of Agriculture and PhD in Life Science (PhD LiSe) of the Nelson Mandela African Institutions of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Tanzania. He is a government employee, working as a Senior Veterinary Research Officer at the Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI). Before working with TALIRI, Andrew worked with Tanzania Veterinary Laboratory Agency (TVLA) at Tanzania Vaccine Institute (TVI) and also, Andrew successfully worked in a private veterinary pharmaceutical firm Farmers Centre Limited for about six years.

Andrew is interested and works on research in the areas of vaccines development, diagnostics of respiratory dieases presenting with respiratory signs in small ruminants, and epidemiological surveys of neglected zoonotic diseases. Currently, Andrew is engaged on research on developing vaccine for control of Contagious caprine pleuropneumonia and Pasteurella multocida pneumonia in small ruminants. Andrew also served as a country coordinator for the Eastern Africa Agricultural Program (EAAP) dairy cattle funded by World Bank through ASARECA, a beneficiary of the Program for Enhancing Health and Productivity of Livestock funded by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and A core Researcher in the University of Dodoma Junior Research Grants (JAS-UDOM) funded by yhe University of Dodoma
